Around 6 p.m., traveling in a stolen vehicle, the forties refused to submit to a police check.
In his flight he did not hesitate to deliberately run into a policeman, the latter having no other choice but to jump into a ditch in order to avoid being knocked down.

A chase then began on the A49 motorway, between Valence and Romans-sur-Isère.
Chased by agents from the Valence anti-crime brigade (BAC) and police officers from Romans, the defendant took all the risks to escape the police.
After more than an hour of racing, he was finally intercepted at the Chatuzange-le-Goubet tollbooth, thanks to the tire harrows deployed by the police.
He unsuccessfully attempted to escape on foot but was immediately apprehended and taken into custody.

Called in as reinforcements during the chase, two gendarmes from the Saint-Marcellin brigade in Isère were also slightly injured after hitting another vehicle driven by a young pregnant woman.
Subsequent medical examinations revealed no major injuries.
Originally from Valence, the defendant had already been convicted in the past for concealment of theft, degradation, refusal to comply, or even violence and threats.
The police have filed a complaint for attempted homicide.
It is now up to the public prosecutor of Valencia to decide on the fate of this man.
