Explanatory failure: Less than 7% of children have been vaccinated against polio since the Ministry of Health campaign began
Although the campaign started almost a month ago, parents report inefficiency and confusion at the Ministry of Health and HMO hotline.
Most of the vaccinated children come from the center, and not from Jerusalem, where the outbreak of the virus began.

Three weeks after the start of the polio vaccine campaign, the Ministry of Health has failed to mobilize the public to get vaccinated.
Data from the ministry show that less than 7% of the potential for ages one and a half to 17 have received the two drops of the vaccine so far.
The ministry's focus on these ages is directed because the children of these yearbooks did not receive the second, live-attenuated vaccine, following a 2005 Ministry of Health decision.
Following the polio outbreak in 2013 the decision was reversed, however these eight yearbooks need to complete their immunization quickly to help eradicate the current outbreak.
According to the data, from the beginning of the operation between the ages of 1.5 and 9, we vaccinated 18,437 and from the ages of 9.5 to 17, we vaccinated a total of 4,827.
Together these are 23,264 vaccinated children, with another 1,671,096 left to be vaccinated.
The data also show that among newborns up to the age of 1.5 there is a good response and already 40% received the first dose and another 25% received the second dose.

The Ministry of Health first focused on Jerusalem, where the outbreak began with a 4-year-old girl in the ultra-Orthodox sector who developed paralysis symptoms in her left limb.
Then they moved all over the country.
In a geographical segment, it can be seen that the Central District leads in the degree of immunization, immediately after that the Jerusalem District, where the municipality also actively entered to encourage the ultra-Orthodox population to be vaccinated.
The Tel Aviv district is in third place, while the southern district is in fourth place.
The list is closed by the Haifa and Ashkelon districts - where the response is very low.
Lior Mizrahi, a mother of three from Rehovot, told Walla!
On her frustration with the vaccination process: "I saw the Ministry of Health videos about polio in the commercials, but I was sure they gave the children all the vaccines they needed because I was very careful, and yet I checked with the Ministry of Health. More than 40 minutes and in the end I really found out that they are not vaccinated. "
"We are learning experience in mass vaccines."

"Our children are 11,9,6 years old," Lior continues. "We were the only ones in line to get the vaccine, the nurses were so surprised that someone came and did not know what to do. They asked each other how many vaccines should be done and how they were given. They did not seem to know what to do with us."
If there is a health crisis here, I would expect the HMO or the Ministry of Health to be more proactive with the parents, and to tell us that the children are not vaccinated.
I called and checked because it's important to me, but what about parents who are less aware?
In addition we have been learning from the last year in mass immunizations, why should I take them to two different places?
Why is it impossible to make a huge immunization tent like in Corona?
That's the way it is impossible to achieve the goal. "
