From the post office to the town hall: the Wiesseer library has moved into a new home

The move has been completed: with immediate effect, the Bad Wiessee municipal library can no longer be found in the Gasthof Post, but in the town hall.

There is now more space for bookworms.

- The Wiesseer community library has arrived in its new home - and has already received the first visitors there: The library is now no longer in the Gasthof zur Post, but on the second floor of the town hall.

It opened its doors there for the first time on Thursday (May 12).

The library makes the town hall "even more of a civic center"

Freshly renovated premises, more space, a better quality of stay and a separate office for the library manager: Hilmar Danzinger can only see positive things about the library's move from the post office to the town hall.

Even a "reading corner" and a separate offer for children have now found space here, the manager of the community is happy.

Danzinger also expressly welcomes the fact that more citizens are now coming and going in and out of the town hall thanks to the library.

"This will make the town hall even more of a community center and not just a classic administration building."

The move became necessary due to the upcoming renovation of the post office

The move of the library is the first visible sign that major changes are pending in the municipal post office.

The inn with its event hall is to be extensively renovated, which also requires a temporary closure.

According to Danzinger, the municipality had ordered around 250 boxes in order to be able to pack the books for their move.

Employees of the building yard dismantled the shelves and put them back in the town hall.

If the offer is well received, an expansion of the library is also conceivable, says Danzinger.

There is still enough space on the upper floor of the town hall, where the offices of the building administration were once housed.

The manager believes that the effort and work that the municipality has put into the facility is well invested: "Running a library is a task that is extremely worthy of support."

There are also new opening hours for the Wiesseer library

The facility will continue to be headed by long-time employee Andrea Gruber.

She used to manage the library using index cards.

Operations are now being switched to a digital system.

The opening hours are also new.

From now on, the Wiesseer library is open every Monday and Thursday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
