Dr. Faisal Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, received this morning MP Mustafa Blah Sohaib, head of the Syrian-Mauritanian Parliamentary Fraternity Committee, and his accompanying delegation.

Minister Miqdad expressed his appreciation and pride in the Syrian-Mauritanian relations and the honorable stances of the Mauritanian people and their leadership towards Syria and the unjust terrorist war it is facing with the aim of weakening it, bringing down the axis of resistance, liquidating the Palestinian cause and achieving Western-Israeli interests.

Minister Miqdad referred to the depth of the historical relations between Syria and Mauritania, which are constantly and distinctly consolidated in all political, cultural and social fields, indicating the importance of joint Arab action and permanent coordination in all political and parliamentary forums to serve Arab issues. He also noted the Syrian leadership's interest in parliamentary diplomacy and its effective role in serving and meeting the interests of states .

Al-Miqdad assured the guest delegation that all Western and regional plans to overthrow the Syrian state had failed thanks to the steadfastness of its people and the valor of its army, as well as the support of friendly and allied countries.

The minister stressed the importance of working on reforming the Arab reality by focusing on ending differences between Arab countries, converging viewpoints and discarding differences, and focusing on the main Arab issue, which is the Palestinian cause, and the attempts to liquidate it.

For his part, MP Al-Mustafa Blah Sohaib expressed his gratitude and thanks for the hospitality and good reception he found in Syria, indicating that the committee’s visit to Damascus comes within the framework of supporting Mauritanian-Syrian relations and supporting parliamentary work, stressing his country’s continued support for Syria and its people in facing the “terrorist war against it” and in maintaining Its sovereignty and territorial integrity and the liberation of the remaining occupied lands and their return to the control of the Syrian state, pointing out that Mauritania is always keen to stand by and support the Arabist Syria.

The meeting was attended from the Syrian side by Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Representative Muhammad Bakhit, Head of the Brotherhood Committee on the Syrian side, MP Abdul Aziz Al-Assaf, Othman Saab, Director of the Arab Affairs Department, Dr. Ihsan Al-Rumman from the Minister’s Office, and from the guest delegation, MP Bamadin, MP Banyuk Bab and Representative Suleiman Ahmed.
