Pollen is currently turning Bavaria yellow.

An expert explains the reason and predicts that the natural phenomenon will remain with us for weeks.

Munich - Anyone who is currently spending a lot of time in the garden in Bavaria - not entirely unlikely given the sunny weather and warm temperatures - has probably already noticed: Yellow pollen is currently covering the garden furniture.

The pollen also remains on the cars.

According to the BR

, the phenomenon can currently be observed particularly in Lower Bavaria and the Upper Palatinate

.

According to the report, the pollen usually comes from spruce trees - and for them it is a special year, a so-called mast year.

Trees then produce significantly more seeds than usual, and masses of pollen fly through the air.

As the portal further reports, spruces actually only bloom every six years, but two years ago there was a similarly strong bloom as now.

“Ultimately, scientists interpret this as a fear reaction of the trees to climate stress, water shortage.

In their distress, they try to produce masses of offspring in the event that they come to an end," the

BR

quotes Cornelius Bugl from the Regensburg-Schwandorf forestry office.

Bugl predicts that the pollen will stay with us for another two or three weeks.

The reason is the dry weather
