The Central District Attorney's Office today (Sunday) filed a prosecutor's statement against the suspect (29) from Lod, in the trampling and injury of a border fighter using a stolen vehicle, near Shoham.
Late last month, a report was received of a vehicle stolen from the city of Lod.
Upon receiving the report, Border Police and police forces carried out roadblocks along the route of the suspect's escape.
During the chase, the fleeing vehicle broke through a checkpoint set up by Border Patrol fighters at the Givat Koach junction (Route 444) and ran over a border fighter who was seriously injured.
The speeding vehicle continued its escape and a few hundred meters later, the driver abandoned the vehicle and started on foot.
Many police and Border Police forces, assisted by a police helicopter, were called to the scene and conducted extensive searches and a few hours later the suspect was located hiding in an open area near the vehicle leaving the scene.
