A year and a half after this attack on a jewelry store, two men, aged 19 and 38, were indicted before being imprisoned.

They are suspected of having attacked with a ram scooter, in January 2021, the jewelry store "A world of gold", installed in the stock exchange district.

That evening, at 5:58 p.m. sharp, rue Notre-Dame des Victoires, it was closing time and the staff began to clear the windows to put the jewelry in the trunk for the night.

Suddenly, the wheel of a TMax scooter comes to force the door of the shop and three hooded criminals burst into the establishment while a fourth keeps watch, sitting on another machine.

As the two-wheeler backs up, one of the bandits places a wooden wedge to block the opening.

Seven employees and four managers are still inside, including a pregnant woman.

One of the attackers brings the boss to the ground.

"A manager begs the bandits not to hit them as she feels they are tense and adrenaline is sweating from every pore of their skin," said a source familiar with the matter.

One of the thieves breaks the windows with an axe.

Another forces them with a screwdriver without really selecting the best parts.

Three minutes later, everyone flees on a scooter with a loot of 475,000 euros.

Investigators follow the journey of the scooters

Investigators from the Paris Banditry Repression Brigade are responsible for carrying out the investigations.

Forensic science technicians pick up clues in the jewelry store.

But the thieves left no trace.

The police follow the journey of the scooters which leads to the Gare de l'Est then to the Porte de la Villette and to Aubervilliers.

Officials understand that a Clio served as a relay car to move the loot.

She will be found on January 27, burned in Taverny (Val-d'Oise).

In the passenger compartment, the police will discover a box stamped “A world of gold”.

The investigations make it possible to go back to the owner of one of the TMax.

This young man is questioned and explains that he sold the machine to a resident of La Courneuve.

The police understand that the latter went to a telephone shop in rue Riquet (19th century) where, buying two prepaid telephones, he had asked the manager to insert the SIM cards himself into the boxes.

As if he didn't want to leave his fingerprints… These two devices were only used once.

They were lit at the time of the robbery before being extinguished shortly after.

Phone searches identify a second suspect.

This repeat offender has 18 entries in the criminal record, mainly for vehicle theft, burglary and drug trafficking.

Silence and refutation in front of the police

On November 30, 2021, the two men were arrested at their home.

The banditry repression brigade carried out, without result, searches in their apartment and those of their relatives.

The victims identify the oldest as the one who put the jeweler down during the attack and the youngest is recognized as the one watching outside.

The police note that the two men went to Belgium and Switzerland probably to sell stolen goods.

But they only stayed there for a few hours.

During the auditions, the young man remained silent.

Contacted his lawyer, Me Yanis Ariouat did not wish to make any statement on this case.

His accomplice admitted having stolen the Clio of the robbery which he used extensively but denies any participation in the attack.

Parisian jewelry stores are regularly targeted by robbers.

Thursday May 5, rue de la Paix, the Chanel jewelry store was robbed by four men on scooters using the same technique for an estimated loot of 2.5 million euros.

Even if the damages are sometimes colossal, the concealing jewelers of Antwerp (Belgium) only give 10% of the value of the pieces to the thieves.
