Political scientist Stefan Marschall is expecting talks in North Rhine-Westphalia about forming a black-green government.
"It will probably result in the prime minister and thus the CDU, the election winner, having the chance to explore here and get a coalition off the ground," Marschall told the German Press Agency on Sunday evening.
Düsseldorf - "And if that doesn't work, then of course there are other options in play, but these are not equal options that are now in the room.
The SPD has achieved its worst result of all time in NRW, and it is very difficult to derive a government mandate from that.”
If the FDP makes it into the state parliament, the question is whether it would even be available for an alliance with the SPD and the Greens.
