Serpil Midyatli: Greens must decide on coalition

The Kiel SPD state chairman Serpil Midyatli sees black and yellow deselected in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The coalition question is open.

"Now the Greens have to decide whether there is a progressive government," wrote Midyatli, whose SPD had suffered a painful defeat in Schleswig-Holstein a week earlier.

The SPD has made an impressive comeback in North Rhine-Westphalia after having been at 19 percent last summer.

Kiel - Midyatli emphasized on Sunday that the formation of a government in North Rhine-Westphalia is also about ensuring that the policy of the traffic light coalition in the Bundesrat cannot be blocked by the CDU.

According to the forecasts, the SPD achieved its historically worst result in a state election in North Rhine-Westphalia with 27.5 percent.
