The activities of the first Syrian Businesswomen's Forum "The Promise Forum", organized by the Economic Investment Group, kicked off today in the hall of the Arab Cultural Center in Sweida.

The opening ceremony included the screening of a short documentary film of Mrs. Asma al-Assad’s visit to the “Syrian Products” market, followed by dialogue sessions for the women participating in the forum with bank managers from the public and private sectors and a number of departments, institutions and service and economic activities in the governorate.

The participants in the forum called for securing permanent headquarters to display the products of development projects, finding markets and outlets for their disposal, and providing the necessary banking facilities to contribute to supporting small and medium enterprises.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Economic Investment Group, the organizer of the forum, Assem Zaid Abu Fakhr, explained that the forum sheds light on the needs of the local economic market, opening the door to investment for business women, developing the economic sector, creating contracting opportunities and agreements between participating companies and entrepreneurs, attracting local industry leaders and agents, and coordinating between companies and investors to hold contracts. Agreements and securing financing for the projects presented during the forum through government and private banks.

The head of the Suwayda Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nabih Bakri, indicated that there are more than 200 women who have a commercial registry from the chamber, stressing the chamber's readiness to provide the necessary support to secure a permanent headquarters for women who have small development projects so that they can display their products and support the marketing and disposal of those products.

The head of the As-Suwayda City Council, Eng. Samer Abu Saada, referred to the council’s role in simplifying the licensing procedures for any development activity and providing free places for it to hold exhibitions and markets, while the director of the Syrian Investment Authority’s branch in Sweida, Jihan Al-Awam pointed out the measures taken to encourage investment, attract investors, and provide them with all the necessary facilities for them. .

Director of the industrial and craft zones in As-Suwayda, Eng. Alaa Abu Ammar, indicated that work is underway to prepare buildings that serve as business incubators to receive any development project.

Associate Director of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Engineer Alaa Shehayeb, pointed out the importance of investing in medicinal and aromatic plants in which the province is famous, while Director of Tourism Yarub Al-Arbeed affirmed the directorate's support for holding permanent exhibitions to display handicraft products and handicrafts in the context of promoting heritage products.

Head of the Craftsmen Union, Jamal Humaidan, indicated that the “Sharqiyat” association for traditional crafts had recently been approved.

The opening of the forum's activities was attended by the Governor of As-Suwayda, Engineer Namir Habib Makhlouf, and the Secretary of the As-Suwayda Branch of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, Fawzat Shukair.
