The petitions sought to overturn the government's decision, due to the fact that there is an incompatibility of the cable car with the Old City environment and this constitutes a scenic damage.

The Supreme Court this morning (Sunday) rejected four petitions filed against the construction of the railway in the Old City of Jerusalem.

The petitions are intended to overturn the decisions of the government, the Ministerial Committee on Planning, Real Estate Construction and Housing and the Hotal, which were made in the matter of the plan.

According to the construction plans, the beginning of its route will be in the old train complex and will end at the station near the garbage gate.

Justices Anat Baron, Justice Yosef Elron and Alex Stein wrote in their ruling: "There is no room for judicial intervention. The planning institutions have chosen to balance the many considerations involved, including transportation considerations, economic considerations, landscape and environmental considerations, considerations regarding the well-being of residents living in the area. The plan and even halakhic considerations. "

The judges further emphasized that the decision between the various planning views and the various social ideologies is left to the planning bodies determined for that purpose by the legislature.

The judges also justified their decision because of the clear need to improve tourism infrastructure in the area, forecasts for an increase in visitors to tourist sites in the program area, the desire to take advantage of the "upper middle" due to topographic and environmental constraints.
