The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that Moscow will respond to all the shameless and illegal steps of Western countries.
"These steps of the West will not go unanswered, as they are at times rude and illegal under international law, under their internal laws or at other times our bilateral relations," TASS news agency quoted the ministry's spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, as saying in an interview with Russia One channel.
Zakharova blamed European countries for wasting an opportunity provided by Russia to settle the conflict in Ukraine and ensure a prosperous future for this country.
Zakharova said: “For eight years, we proposed an ideal compromise option, which was not a symbolic choice to save Ukraine’s face, but rather an option that ensured its preservation as a large country that was going to overcome the growth crisis and develop on the basis of democratic principles while providing alternative ways of development in a wide range of directions, but Europe I missed this opportunity.”
The spokeswoman stressed that European countries are responsible for suspending contacts between them and Russia.
