A good three weeks after the most recent incidents, town signs were stolen again in Nandlstadt.

For Mayor Gerhard Betz it's "no more fun".

Nandlstadt

– For Nandlstadt's mayor Gerhard Betz it's "no more fun": Once again, an unknown person removed and stole three town signs in the community - and threw another one on the ground.

"Not only does this cost us a lot of money, it also means a lot of work and is a dangerous disruption to road traffic."

“I looked closely at the tracks”

Just three weeks ago, Nandlstadt's second mayor, Rainer Klier, reported that "a sign had been stolen at every town entrance" - with the exception of the direction towards Hausmehring.

So now the perpetrator was at work again: The new town sign, which had been installed just over a week ago on Freisinger Straße (high school), was stolen again.

At the end of the town in the direction of Au, two place-name signs are missing.

And in the direction of Reichertshausen, the stranger removed the sign and then "put it upright in the ground," reports the mayor.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.

Gerhard Betz took a close look at the “crime scenes” himself and is convinced: “There is a professional at work here.

I took a close look at the traces: there isn't much broken.

The perpetrator must have had tools and a ladder with him to remove the signs.” So far, however, the thief has not been traced.

After the incidents in mid-April, when several town and traffic signs were stolen, the municipality filed a complaint against unknown persons.

"We're going to do that now," said Betz.

Because: "It's not funny anymore."

"I don't think the perpetrator is aware of what he's doing," says Betz: "He's extremely involved in traffic." That means: "If there's no place-name sign, then he opens a 100-seater area," says Weiss the mayor.

Road users who are unfamiliar with the area could rush into town at 100 kilometers per hour because the town sign and thus the 50 km/h limit are missing.

"In the worst case, someone could be run over," fears Betz.

Costs remain with the market and district

The stolen signs also represent a financial burden: According to Betz, a new town sign costs around 400 euros.

The Moosburg police put the sign thefts in April at around 1,550 euros.

And in December 2021, two place-name signs were already stolen.

The costs for the signs on the local roads are borne by the market in Nandlstadt, on district roads by the district.

Betz is now asking all citizens to keep their eyes open and report suspicious observations to the community or the police.

As early as January, someone pranked the citizens of Nandlstadt and hung up the Nandlstadt town sign in the neighboring municipality of Au.
