Not for the faint of heart: One of the biggest nightmares of any fast food lover is to bite into his favorite dish and discover within it ... an ingredient that should not be there.
This is exactly what happened to Willem Bezidenhut from South Africa, who ordered for his home a delivery of a macchican meal from a McDonald's branch in the town of Skunda in the province of Mpumalanga.
We will not leave you in suspense: after opening the package, Willem's 13-year-old daughter bit into the fried chicken sandwich several times, feeling that something was wrong.
She checked the dish, was shocked, turned to her father and said, "Dad, there's a frog in my hamburger."
Willem first thought his daughter was laughing, but very quickly spotted a pair of greenish legs sticking out of the bun.
He anxiously picked up one of the slices of bread and revealed to his dismay that his daughter was right - the sandwich contained another portion of meat: a whole frog!
"The frog was covered in mayonnaise, and I think she was still alive because I'm sure she blinked," said Mr. Bezwindenhut, who hurried to call McDonald's customer service to complain.
He said the number was incorrect, so he went to the branch from which the shipment left to talk to those responsible for the default.
According to him, the shift manager, who consulted by telephone with the branch manager, stated that the sandwich could not be replaced, and did not even apologize.
"They blamed the courier company," said the agitated Willem, who was quick to share his squeaky-square findings - as both chickens and frogs croak - on Facebook.
"Thank you, McDonald's Skunda, for the not-so-nice surprise you organized at my daughter's meal. I always thought such things only happen in movies, but it happened to us tonight. Yes, you see right. It's a frog," the stunned father concluded in a post he had already won To thousands of shares on social networks.
After the affair exploded, McDonald's chose to come to their senses and take responsibility.
The network's spokesman in South Africa, Daniel Fadiachi, clarified that the company is investigating the case and is in contact with the family.
"We take the issue very seriously and are working with the parties involved to resolve it," the spokesman concluded.
