One thousand euro fine for the Ditta Artigianale cafeteria in Florence, for not displaying the price of a cup of coffee at the counter.

The fact took place following the dispute of a customer who, annoyed by the deemed high cost of a decaffeinated coffee, equal to two euros, decided to call the municipal police since the price was not displayed.

"I believe that with everything that is administered in bars today, this law has so much absurdity and should be changed, otherwise 99.9% of bars and restaurants would be easily mistaken", wrote on Facebook Francesco Sanapo, owner of Ditta Artigianale and also known for having been Italian coffee champion several times, revealing what had happened and underlining that the decaffeinated in question was a coffee "from a Mexican plantation, prepared with great professionalism by my baristas".

Sanapo does not discuss the fine, ("I am ready to pay for my mistakes", he wrote again), but asks "that no one be scandalized if he pays two euros for an express: it is a mission and I will carry it out with my head held high".

Sanapo's appeal for the enhancement of product quality was picked up by Confartigianato Firenze: "Not considering the quality of a product where there is a great deal of work behind it - the president Alessandro Vittorio Sorani said in a note - is something that it embitters me deeply. You pay for quality and it is to everyone's advantage ".

For Serena Nobili of Dini Caffè "we are in 2022 but still in Italy we cannot speak of quality when it comes to coffee, in this sector quality is not perceived: it is very serious".
