Container system for the Korbinian kindergarten: Nandlstadt creates more childcare places

– The Korbinian kindergarten in Nandlstadt is to be expanded by one group.

Since the facility is fully utilized with three crèches and two kindergarten groups, the community bought a container facility.

In the meeting on Thursday, the building committee will discuss the construction of the containers on the neighboring property on Korbinianstrasse.

Container already prepared for children

As in many municipalities, the demand for childcare places is high in Nandlstadt.

"We currently have at least 16 children on the waiting list," reports Mayor Gerhard Betz when asked by FT.

In order to meet the demand, "we reacted quickly," says Betz, and bought a container system from the municipality of Gammelsdorf.

"It's like winning the lottery," says the head of the town hall, happy about the coup.

"The great thing is: The container is already prepared for children." After all, it was also needed in Gammelsdorf for the offspring.

"Now we only need furniture, connections and of course the staff," summarizes Betz roughly.

And of course the approval of the building committee for the building application as well as various approvals and reports, for example for the statics and fire protection and much more.

All this will take time.

But the mayor hopes that the new group can be opened "in the course of the new kindergarten year".

The container facility is to be erected on a vacant lot next to the Korbinian kindergarten, which belongs to the municipality.

In addition to a group room, there are also sanitary facilities, a lounge for the employees and a small kitchen niche.

It is not yet clear what the outdoor area will look like.

It is possible that the group will get its own small area, but in any case they can use the garden of the kindergarten.

"There is no avoiding expansion, extension or new construction"

Betz is happy about this solution, although one thing is clear: "It's only a short-term solution." In the long term, the community will have to think about a third kindergarten.

But the mayor wants to say little about that.

Just this much: Last year, a day-care center requirement plan was commissioned.

The results are now available, and for Betz it is clear "that we cannot avoid an expansion, an extension or a new building", as he had said in April.
