Even a conservative party can lose its decency with a clear election victory: On Sunday, Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst's CDU won 35.7 percent of the second votes in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Compared to the last state election in 2017, this is an increase of 2.7 percentage points.
The election party of the CDU at the Düsseldorf party headquarters had to be paused by the regulatory office on Sunday evening – because the celebration was too loud.
A city spokesman for the dpa news agency confirmed that "due to complaints from residents about noise pollution," the public order office's forces were deployed to the election party around 10:30 p.m.
“It was determined on site that the music was actually far too loud.
Those responsible were instructed, they were asked to turn off the music, "said the spokesman.
According to a spokeswoman, the police also had another complaint about the volume.
500 liters of beer and power outages
The party headquarters on Düsseldorf's Wasserstrasse is in the heart of the city, and the CDU had set up a marquee in the garden.
According to WDR information, 500 liters of beer were in stock.
At times the music is said to have been so loud that the power went out several times.
The first loud cheers were already heard at 6 p.m. after the surprisingly high forecast for the CDU.
The atmosphere among the 400 guests from the CDU was already boisterous.
When Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU) came to the party tent at the party headquarters at around 10:15 p.m., he was celebrated with “Schalalala” chants.
A little later the clerk came.
The CDU clearly won the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia on Sunday.
According to preliminary results, the party received 35.7 percent of the votes.
The SPD, with lead candidate Thomas Kutschaty, fell to a record low of 26.7 percent, while the Greens, led by lead candidate Mona Neubaur, moved up to third place with a record 18.2 percent.
The FDP fell by 6.7 points to 5.9 percent.
