Ginsheim-Gustavsburg - The fire brigade saved a sports boat on the Rhine from sinking.
The boat was on Sunday evening (May 16) around 6 p.m. on a branch of the Rhine near Ginsheim-Gustavsburg when it suddenly began to sink quickly, according to the police.
Four people were on board at the time, as reported by fnp.de.
According to a police statement, the crew managed to drive "onto the sandy shore of the 'field' in time".
This made it sink slower.
The water protection police in Wiesbaden supported the fire brigade and the DLRG from Ginsheim, Mainz and Kostheim in the rescue measures.
The boat continued to fill up with water, and the automatic pumping out didn't seem to work at first.
