There was an explosion in a family's caravan in Wallesau.

The flames quickly spread to other caravans, seven people were injured.

Update from May 16, 6:35 a.m

Campsite in Bavaria: Inferno of flames after a loud bang

Update from May 15, 10:43 p.m .:

At a campsite near Roth there was a real inferno of flames on Sunday night.

Up to 17 parcels were in full fire and were completely destroyed, including the vehicles.

Seven people were injured (see initial report).

The fire broke out in a family's trailer.

When working on a furnace, there was a flash fire, which apparently started the fire (see previous update).

Witnesses report a loud bang.

So does Maik K., who is a permanent camper on the site.

He spent the weekend with his wife at the campsite and suddenly heard a "bright whistling" and "a bang" in the night.

"So a really rough blow," he tells

The eyewitness explains that he then went outside and then saw a fire.

"And suddenly there was one, two, three hits - I assume they were gas bottles." The fire then spread quickly.

One place after another caught fire.

"I'm still shaking," he describes the moment.

A fire broke out at a campsite in Wallesau on Sunday night.

The extinguishing work was not easy, as the police now explained in a press release, because during the extinguishing there were "further deflagrations at various locations".

Campsite in Roth: jet of flame after working on the catalytic furnace

According to the current status of the investigation, the fire emanated from a caravan on the site that was occupied by a family.

When working on a so-called catalytic furnace, there was a flash of flame, which started the fire.

A witness heard a bang and freed the family (father 39, mother 38 and a child) from the burning trailer. 

Numerous members of the Roth fire brigade and the surrounding voluntary fire brigades were deployed at the campsite.

In addition, the technical relief organization from Roth and Hilpoltstein, numerous rescue service workers, the water rescue service and two pastors from the emergency pastoral care and several workers from the Johanniter crisis intervention provided support.

Wallesau (Roth): deflagration and explosion at a campsite in Bavaria

The police spoke to Vifogra of 15 to 17 plots that were completely burned out.

There are seven injured in total.

The 39-year-old father suffered severe burn injuries, his wife (38) severe smoke inhalation.

In addition, five other people were slightly injured (smoke poisoning).
