For the hero of Israel, Mahmoud Khir al-Din: to amend the Nationality Law immediately
With the publication of the heroism of Lt. Col. al-Din, the great contribution of the Druze community and its zeal for the security of the State of Israel are often praised. However, the "Nationality Law" is a resounding slap in the face for it.

Since yesterday, with the publication of the daring heroism of Lt. Col. Mahmoud Khir al-Din, the great contribution of the Druze community and the harshness of the community to the security and existence of the State of Israel are often praised. Only last month when the Druze celebrated the holiday of the prophet Jethro Israeli politicians from all corners of the political spectrum, from the far right to the left, hurried to speak and praise the special connection between the Druze community and the Jewish people in the Land of Israel in words that express great appreciation for the "blood covenant" and the need to translate this covenant into a "covenant of life."
But words aside and reality aside. It imposes a heavy economic price on members of the Druze community and prevents the community from developing as an ethnic, cultural and religious group seeking to exist with dignity and expand in Israel.

Amend the Nationality Law immediately.

The publication of the identity of Israeli hero Lt. Col. Mahmoud Khir al-Din this week, after three and a half years after the daring operation in Khan Yunis, once again raises the heavy price we pay with the fall and injury of many of our best sons in defense of the State of Israel. The state recalculates the acute issues related to Druze society and in particular - amending the Nationality Law which was forced on them due to narrow political-party considerations and in response to the process of Islamization among parts of Israeli Arabs, without taking into account the harm and damage of this law. And always an integral part of Israeli society and the flesh and blood of the state.
Today there is a government whose many members declare, especially on days like these, the terrible injustice that the Nationality Law causes to the Druze and the need to correct it.
I call on the Government and the Knesset of Israel not to settle for the following statements as lip service.
Today you have the responsibility, as well as the ability, to amend the law of the nation and to translate in practice the great slogans of the "blood covenant" into a true "covenant of life."
You are the ones who today are required to realize your statements in deeds and not in words and give equal status to the community, which is a symbol and role model for a real connection with the Jewish people in Israel.
