Rio de Janeiro-SANA
Four people were killed and others injured in a shooting incident in the city of Altamira, northern Brazil.
The news agency AFP quoted local officials as saying: The two gunmen opened fire on a crowd of people who were sitting outside a bar in the city, killing four of them, while four others were wounded of varying severity.
Para State Governor Helder Barbalyo said in a statement that authorities were investigating the attack as a "potential conflict between criminal groups."
The state of Para had previously been the scene of bloody confrontations in the past between drug gangs and mafia-like groups, and local media reports said that at least 12 murders took place in the city of Altamira alone in less than two weeks, adding that it was investigating whether these crimes were linked to each other.
