The “Eden for everyone” project has started in Klettham: For ten euros a year, citizens can lease raised beds in a community garden for growing vegetables, herbs and the like.

Klettham

– There is now a community garden in Klettham, where every citizen can get involved.

The 1100 square meter meadow with 30 raised beds, built by the Fendsbacher Hof workshop, garden pump and seating is located near the Rot-Weiß Klettham clubhouse on Flurstraße.

There are some lower raised beds for children.

Under the motto "Eden for everyone", the community garden was opened with the planting of berry bushes and a specialist lecture on "proper gardening".

In addition, Konrad Huber set musical accents with his guitar playing.

A raised bed sponsorship costs ten euros per year, all beds were gone in no time.

Users can plant whatever they want, from fruits to vegetables to flowers to herbs.

But it's not just about growing vegetables, said Mayor Max Gotz at the opening.

Equally important is the cooperation of the citizens and that one can get into conversation.

This was also emphasized by district manager Stefanie Auer.

The opening on the day of urban development funding therefore also has the motto "Klettham comes together".

Klettham-Nord: Since 2019, a good 300,000 euros in grants from urban development funding

The district management supports local activities of the residents, collects ideas, connects people, politics and initiatives.

The idea for the community garden came from the citizenry.

Nicola Kipp from the Urban Development Fund at the Government of Upper Bavaria congratulated the community garden.

Since Klettham's inclusion in urban development funding in 2019, the government of Upper Bavaria has already subsidized the district with a good 300,000 euros.

Pupils from class 5D at the Korbinian-Aigner-Gymnasium are also gardening with us.

"Cucumbers, tomatoes, chives and lettuce go into our two beds," says Moritz.

And his classmate Samuel finds it very practical that the sports field is right next door: "I play football there with the Kletthamer D1, and I can immediately look over at our beds."

City Councilor Walter Koppe and Deputy Mayor Petra Bauernfeind were also impressed by the project.

"Children find their way to nature here and also have a sense of achievement," said Koppe, for example.

By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Erding newsletter.
