Impressions about the monodrama theater at the University Graduate Association in Homs

The art of monodrama is classified as one of the forms of experimental theater that developed and expanded during the twentieth century and is based on one actor who recounts the event through dialogue and is the only one who has the right to speak on stage. The monodramatic text may sometimes use a number of actors, but they must remain silent throughout the show.

The success of this artistic genre requires a creative and skilled director, writer and actor, in addition to its need for financial support greater than what is spent on the rest of the regular theatrical performances.

In order to introduce more about this art and its development, the artist Tammam Al-Awani presented a lecture at the invitation of the Association of University Graduates in Homs entitled “Impressions about Monodrama Theatre,” in which he referred to the presence of writers, directors and actors who talk about monodrama as if it had theories at the time when all we see in Syria is personal diligence. There is no theory In the monodrama until now, he noted six theatrical experiences he presented in the art of monodrama, which he considers one of the most difficult arts at all, because the monodrama theater requires tools and experience to deliver the message to the recipient.

The artist Al-Awani reviewed the history and origin of the art of monodrama in the world, in the Arab world, and locally, as it is an art in its own right and a color of drama, a situation that must be filled with the live actor without slipping into boredom and the absence of surprise during the show.

The artist, Tammam Al-Awani, is an actor, director, author, playwright and president of the Doha Mimas Club for Music and Arts in Homs. He is a member of the Artists Syndicate and the Arab Writers Union. He has six theatrical works in the art of monodrama and Arab participation in the theater. Titled Late Night Day.
