In Lebanon, the opposition challenges Hezbollah in the legislative elections

Many deputies from opposition lists made a breakthrough in the Assembly, upsetting the balance of the parliamentary blocs.

Let the parliamentary guard know that the revolutionaries enter the Hemicycle as deputies.

For the demonstrators who had been violently repressed during the protest movements of October 2019 by the men of Nabih Berri, the irremovable president of Parliament for three decades, the legislative elections have a taste of revenge.

At least ten candidates from the opposition lists have "pierced" those of power.

A score which could be revised upwards in the light of the counts still in progress on Monday, at the start of the evening.

The outgoing parties retain their dominance, despite a record that would have automatically overthrown them if a real democratic alternation had been possible.
