Former US First Lady Melania Trump is not ruling out a return to the White House.

"Never say never," the 52-year-old told Fox News on Sunday (local time).

The wife of ex-President Donald Trump replied when asked if she could imagine government headquarters in the US capital Washington becoming her home again.

It was the first lengthy interview of the former first lady since she left the White House.

Her husband is considered the Republican's most promising candidate for re-election for the White House in two years.

She and her family are doing very well at the moment, Trump said in the interview.

"Life is great and keeps you busy." Being First Lady of the United States was her "greatest honor," Trump said.

“I enjoyed looking after the White House.

It was my home for a while.« She also liked the city of Washington.

The former first lady had made herself very rare in public after her husband left the White House.

It recently started selling non-fungible tokens (NFT) – i.e. digitally protected originals – on its website.

She had announced that part of the proceeds should go to children.

Struggling with the very public role

In public life in the USA, the First Lady, also known as FLOTUS, plays a role that should not be underestimated.

The wife of the US President is not only a spouse and often a mother, but also reflects the values of her nation. Ideally, she expands the space of opportunity and lives out the ideas of femininity that reign in the heads of millions of girls and women.

She can set standards.

Everything in the White House is so oversized for the whole world to look at.

Melania Trump rarely spoke publicly, and when she spoke, she read well-formed words from the page that were forgotten a second later.

As First Lady, she leaves only pictures.

For almost all of her time in the White House, there has been speculation that she might struggle with her role as First Lady.

There was enough evidence: at the beginning she did not move into the White House for five months.

Already on the day of the inauguration she looked gloomy.

During the traditional dance in the evening, she kept a maximum distance from her husband, which is part of the couple dance.

Things didn't necessarily get better during her tenure: During a state visit to Israel in 2017, it seemed as if she slapped her husband's hand away.

In August 2020, the scene was repeated when disembarking from the presidential plane.
