The parole board will today (Monday) discuss for the second time Alon Kastiel's request for early release next week, after serving nearly four years in prison - more than a year before the end of his 57-month prison sentence.

A year ago, the parole board rejected Castiel's request, and he filed another request.

This time, Sheri Golan, one of the complainants in the case, will appear before the Parole Board.

Golan shared her feelings on her Facebook page yesterday.

"I will speak first to the parole board and try to explain to them why it is a mistake to give this man an early release award for good behavior. I will try to emphasize how much damage this will do to me personally and to others of course. There is nothing to talk about. .

"I will speak before the committee, but I am not optimistic about the issue," Golan added.

"I will speak before the committee to express opposition and make my voice heard. Castiel pleaded guilty and was convicted as part of a plea deal on four charges including offenses of attempted rape, indecent act and sexual harassment.

As part of the plea agreement, the parties did not reach an agreed sentence and the Tel Aviv District Court sentenced him in July 2018 to 57 months in prison, probation and compensation for each of the four complainants.

Castiel appealed the severity of the sentence to the Supreme Court, which dismissed the appeal in June 2019. "The indictment paints a harsh picture of the appellant's violent behavior toward women, which is repeated in various forms and degrees of severity over the years," Judge David Mintz wrote in the ruling. "As already stated in this Court, the policy of punishment for sexual offenses should be stricter, and express the significant damages caused to the body and soul of the victims of the offense, as well as the public interest in deterring potential sex offenders.

"The complainants will have to deal with the damages caused to them as a result of the appellant's actions for many years to come, as is also apparent from the surveys submitted to the District Court.
