, took place on Wednesday May 11 shortly after 5 a.m. in the Port district.
A woman of English nationality leaving Place Garibaldi was followed by a man.
The rape happened on an adjacent street.
According to our colleagues, the urban supervision center (CSU) of the municipal police of Nice managed to trace the course of the victim and his attacker until the rape, captured by the city cameras.
CSU officers found the alleged assailant an hour later in the same neighborhood.
The individual was arrested while breaking the window of a parked vehicle with a stone.
According to our information, the suspect had recently arrived from the Italian island of Lampedusa and was under the influence of narcotics at the time of the alleged rape.
