The American newspaper Politico revealed that the administration of US President Joe Biden is facing an "energy nightmare" due to the rise in gas prices in the country, which contributed to the strengthening of inflation in the United States.
The newspaper stated that at a time when the Biden administration is seeking to neutralize the consequences of high record gasoline prices, the country has begun to face a crisis related to significantly high gas prices as well, especially since gasoline prices recorded this week in record numbers.
Natural gas prices have jumped to their highest levels in more than a decade, driving up the cost of everything from home heating and cooking to fertilizers, chemicals and wholesale electricity prices.
The newspaper warned that while the results of the price change would not be as obvious to the average consumer immediately as the sharp rise in gasoline, it would contribute to the inflation that Biden suffered for several months, often by increasing the costs of food, heating, plastic and utility bills, as homeowners in some states complained. Those that depend on gas find that heating costs in the winter have nearly doubled from the previous year.
Gasoline prices this month at US gas stations have risen to historical levels, as data for a report published by the American Automobile Association showed that this week it rose to the level of $4,432 per gallon.
