President Bashar al-Assad met today with members of the General Secretariat of the Union of Palestinian Communities, Institutions and Activities in the Diaspora-Europe, which held its fifth general conference in Damascus.
President al-Assad welcomed the members of the delegation and asked them to convey his greetings and welcome to all participants in the conference, considering that Syria's relationship with the Palestinian cause and its connection with it is a core link, not only from a geographical or ideological point of view, but also in terms of interests. Therefore, any success for this cause is a success for Syria.
President al-Assad affirmed that the Palestinian cause exists today and strongly on the international scene thanks to the efforts of its loyal sons who are in the diaspora, the struggle of the resistance at home, and the new generation's awareness of the importance of its cause, its defense and its connection with it more and more.
President al-Assad considered that the main point in the work of Palestinian communities and activities abroad must be based on thought in order to preserve identity and memory through future generations so that the issue remains present, in addition to working to refute the lies that attempt to portray the Palestinian people as a terrorist people.
In turn, the delegation members affirmed that the success of their conference is due to the real support provided by Syria to the Palestinian cause and its adoption of this cause. They considered that Syria's hosting of the conference this year and in previous times, and granting the Palestinians inside it full rights, indicates the authenticity of the Syrian people.
The members of the delegation also indicated that their defense of Syria in the countries and forums in which they are present is also a defense of Palestine, considering that the war against which the Syrian people are exposed has revealed the masks and brought down the falsehood of Western claims to defend freedoms and human rights.
