The Russian Defense Ministry announced that an agreement had been reached to open a humanitarian corridor from the Azovstal plant in Mariupol to treat wounded Ukrainian soldiers trapped there.
The ministry said in a statement today: As a result of negotiations with representatives of the Ukrainian military who are trapped in the Azovstal metallurgical plant in Mariupol, an agreement was reached on the transportation of the wounded.
At the moment, the ceasefire regime has been announced and a humanitarian corridor has been opened through which wounded Ukrainian soldiers are delivered to medical institutions in the city of Novoazovsk in the Donetsk People's Republic and provide them with the necessary assistance.
The Azovstal plant is the last stronghold of the Ukrainian forces and elements of the Azov battalion in the city of Mariupol in the Donetsk People's Republic.
