Deputy Speaker of the Russian State Duma Irina Yarovaya stressed that the establishment of biological laboratories by the United States of America along the periphery of Russia is tantamount to placing facilities for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) on Russia's borders.
Yarovaya, who is the co-chair of the Parliamentary Committee to investigate the issue of the activities of American biological laboratories on Ukrainian soil, explained after the committee’s meeting today, “The establishment of biological laboratories by the United States of America along the periphery of Russia can be considered as the placement of facilities for NATO, given that the use of these facilities was originally limited by the agreements signed Between the parties to which the Pentagon has always been a party.”
Yarovaya indicated that the information obtained by Russia from these laboratories allows it to reach a conclusive conclusion that the United States of America was implementing a dangerous military program on Ukrainian soil that poses a danger above all to the Ukrainian citizens themselves.
Yarovaya pointed out that the military biological laboratories in Ukraine constitute a source of great concern to the global community and represent a threat to peace and therefore require appropriate and multi-level assessment and responses on a number of different international platforms.
Yarovaya announced that the committee fully supports the initiative of the Russian Foreign Ministry to launch a UN Security Council investigation into these laboratories, indicating that the documents and files collected by the parliamentary committee will be of paramount importance to confirm the involvement of Ukraine and the United States in violating the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development of Biological and Toxic Weapons.
The State Duma and the Russian Federation had adopted a resolution to conduct a parliamentary investigation into the work of biological laboratories in Ukraine through a joint commission.
