Moscow, SANA- Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov considered that the accession of Sweden and Finland to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization

Moscow-Sana

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov considered that the accession of Sweden and Finland to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) would radically change the world.

Commenting on the decision of these two countries to join NATO, Ryabkov told reporters today, according to Sputnik agency, "The general situation in the world after Sweden and Finland's decision to join NATO will change radically."

He pointed out that this step of the two countries will not enhance their security and is another grave mistake with far-reaching consequences, adding that no one should have any illusions that Russia will simply accept this.

Ryabkov stressed that the measure will increase the military tension and the predictability in this region will become less.

Finland and Sweden announced the possibility of abandoning the status of neutrality that lasted for years and joining NATO against the backdrop of the Russian special military operation carried out by Moscow in Ukraine, while NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg announced that the accession process of Helsinki and Stockholm will be smooth and fast.
