Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked is on alert in light of the announcement that Blue and White Chairman Bnei Gantz intends to re-introduce the Equality Law for a vote in the Ministerial Committee on Legislation.
In a tweet published today, Shaked clarified that she will not support the law and will even prevent its promotion:
Suggests that coalition members stop toying with the thought of making changes that are not agreed upon in the Basic Laws.
This will not happen, just as stipulated in the coalition agreement.
If required, the right will make use of the veto right.
It is better to focus on the economic and security challenges before us.

The desire to re-introduce the Equality Law arose after the revelation of the identity of the late Lt. Col. Mahmoud Khir a-Din, who fell about three years ago in an operational activity in Gaza.
Following the revelation, Finance Minister Lieberman, who is considered a supporter of the Nationality Law, argued that the law needed to be amended.
"There is a contradiction between the Nationality Law in its current version and all the praise for the hero of Israel, the late Lt. Col. Mahmoud Khir a-Din, and many others who fell for the state. This is an opportunity to amend the Nationality Law and establish the Declaration of Independence as a Basic Law. "Both the opposition and the coalition have to recalculate a route, and instead of settling for words like 'brothers in arms' for Druze society, do what is necessary," Lieberman said.
