Starting today: All Corona entry rules for Austria are lifted

Those who have planned a holiday in Austria can be happy: From Monday (May 16) you will no longer need a 3G certificate to enter the country - all requirements have been lifted.
Since May 16, holidaymakers in Austria no longer have to
provide proof of vaccination, recovery or testing
upon entry .
There is also no longer a
registration or quarantine obligation
.
The Austrian government updated the entry regulation accordingly on Friday.
The background to the easing is that the epidemiological situation has eased.
3G rule for Austria entry abolished - relief in the tourism industry
"This eliminated a massive competitive disadvantage compared to other European destinations," said Gregor Kadanka, chairman of the WKÖ Association of Travel Agencies, according to

regarding the easing.
Previously, travelers had to present 3G proof in order to be allowed to enter Austria.
Theoretically, however, there are still requirements for travel from
virus variant areas
- however, no country is currently affected.
If a region or state were to be reclassified as a virus variant area, travelers would have to adhere to a 3G rule, as well as registration and quarantine requirements.
The new regulation will initially apply until July 8.

In Austria, an

applies in
closed rooms
of
health facilities
,
on public transport and its stops or in the customer area of essential shops
.
A 3G proof is also only required for a visit to the hospital, old people's home or nursing home.
All other areas can be entered without a vaccination, recovery or test certificate.
The period of validity of the vaccination certificate has also been adjusted: With a booster vaccination, this is now valid for 365 days.
