The participants in the first conference to invest in renewable energies and electricity called for working to lift the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people because of their negative impact on the electricity sector, and to allow the private sector to share responsibility for supplying reliable energy at competitive prices.

Participants in the final recommendations of the conference today and stressed the importance of activating the electrical connection between the Arab countries and to encourage the establishment of joint stock companies in the field of renewable energies and electricity while providing the necessary facilities for the establishment of joint ventures in this area.

The participants pointed out the importance of studying the prices mentioned in the food tariff decision, setting tariffs for all types of renewable energy, reforming and rationalizing electricity and water tariffs, setting appropriate and integrated policies and institutional frameworks for the electricity sector, preparing technical and economic sessions for the available energy potential for wave energy and underground energy, and assigning the National Center for Energy Research to prepare the required studies. With the concerned authorities and giving priority to renewable energy projects and equipment in terms of securing foreign exchange.

The participants called for studying the possibility of considering existing renewable energy projects as part of the value of the guarantees provided to obtain financing for new projects, increasing the lands allocated for the Ministry of Electricity and offering them for investment in renewable energy projects, developing legislation and regulations to raise energy efficiency and providing the necessary facilities for that.

Participated in the two-day conference held by the Ministry of Electricity at the Jasmine City Hotel in Damascus under the slogan “Investment in Renewable Energy and Electricity.. The Engine of Sustainable Development in Syria” for two days, the Syrian Investment Authority, the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade, the Central Bank of Syria, the Planning and International Cooperation Authority, the Arab Authority for Renewable Energy and the Minister of Energy And the Lebanese water, Walid Fayyad, in addition to Syrian, Arab and foreign investors.
