The national plan to preserve the Damascene rose that the Syrian Trust for Development is working on through the Living Heritage Program comes in cooperation with official and civil authorities. Within the plan, a local annual festival is held every year on the occasion of the rose-picking seasons, in which the people participate, believing in the importance of this heritage and the need to preserve it.

The festival is accompanied by social rituals such as performing zajal and chants associated with the picking of the rose, some folkloric dances and competitions for this unique Syrian weather.

And in a statement by the Syrian Trust for Development, which was published on its accounts on social media, it indicated that the people of the areas where the Damascene rose is planted at this time of the year, which is the harvest and harvest seasons and before sunrise from five to eight in the morning, go out to the fields with great vigor, men, women and children carrying baskets in Those areas where the acres planted with flowers turn into carnivals.

The Syrian Trust said, “For its people, the rose is the most valuable thing they possess. They live for it, live from it, learn to deal with it from a young age, and innovate in the manufacture of its products, knowing that it is their fragrance that reached humanity.”

The Syrian secretariat indicated that within the plan to preserve the national Damascene rose, it works in an integrated manner with the hands that plant, harvest and manufacture in the countryside of Damascus, Hama, Lattakia and Aleppo, where this rose is cultivated, which is part of the cultural identity of those regions and a source of livelihood for its residents and has economic importance stemming from its aromatic, nutritional and cosmetic benefits And medicinal and for each rose the most appropriate time to harvest according to its use, but it is certain that the more fragrant it smells, the more it indicates the quality of the crop and the good care of it.
