The Russian Foreign Ministry has warned that Moscow will have to respond with military-technical steps to Sweden's accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization "NATO" in order to stop the threats to its national security that will arise as a result of this decision.
Russia Today quoted a Foreign Ministry statement: “Russia will have to take retaliatory steps, whether military, technical or otherwise,” explaining that the measures will be linked to the possibility of NATO deploying offensive weapons on Swedish territory.
The ministry explained that this accession will not lead to an increase in the level of security in Sweden, especially since no one threatens it, but it will certainly lead to a loss of sovereignty in making foreign policy decisions.
Earlier media reports said that the Swedish government has already prepared a letter of application for membership to NATO and is scheduled to be sent simultaneously with Finland.
