On the day of urban development promotion, the market town of Wartenberg ceremoniously inaugurated the Bürgerpark with a new playground at the old school building.

– The Bürgerpark with a modern playground as the centerpiece in the area of ​​the old school building was officially inaugurated on Saturday.

There is a reason why the municipality has scheduled this opening on the Bavaria-wide “Day of Urban Development Funding”: The city development funding of the Free State has a significant share in the success of the project.

The concept was developed together with planner Dietmar Narr and the market community, said Mayor Christian Pröbst.

"And that's why we're all here today," was his greeting.

The application for funding for the project was submitted in December 2020, he reported to the guests, and the funding was approved in March.

The total costs for the outdoor facilities would have been almost 550,000 euros.

"A proud sum." Of this, however, only just under 300,000 euros were eligible for funding.

Only publicly accessible parts are eligible for funding.

There was around 180,000 euros or 60 percent of it as funding.

"That helps us immensely, because" - and with that he turned to the market town council - "we simply have no money."

As reported, the upper part of the outdoor facilities was already finished when the renovated old school building was inaugurated.

Now the lower part with stairs, playground and seating is added.

Narr received special praise for the planning, which the mayor said takes multiple age groups into account.

For Pröbst, it was particularly important that the playground also represented an offer to the residents of the immediately adjacent residential area.

"We don't have a single playground there, and it's great that we have one." That's a noticeable improvement.

That was the cue for District Administrator Martin Bayerstorfer, who congratulated on the commitment and energy.

"The trappings are also so important," he said, emphasizing that it is crucial "that people can also feel comfortable." For Planer Narr, a key issue was that those involved in the project phase "didn't give up." Office had partners who all worked together.

For him, this is a "feel good day."

Pastor Elisabeth Schulz and Pastoral Advisor Monika Schug, who carried out the church consecration, continued the greetings of the speakers and, in their short speeches, focused on the people who use this facility.

The market in Wartenberg used the day consistently and organized a small festival for the occasion.

In the best weather, we enjoyed the day together.

Representatives from the urban development department were there, as was the office that was working on the local heating concept.

There was an extensive program of music and magic for the children, and there was also food.
