The need for child care is increasing and increasing.

The culture committee has therefore spoken out in favor of childcare places at the elementary school in Weidach.

Wolfratshausen

- More and more children need care - the need in the coming school year again exceeds the capacity limit.

Despite an expansion of the two day care centers in the La Vida youth center and the Waldram elementary and middle school before the start of the current school year, the rooms at both locations are not sufficient to cover the high need for care.

Weidach offers the “last spatial resources”

Fritz Meixner, managing director of the children and youth development association (KJFV), therefore proposed a solution to the culture committee on Thursday evening.

"The last spatial resources for creating additional childcare places after the morning lessons are in the basement of the Weidach elementary school," explained Meixner.

Little Bird Parent Portal

The culture committee unanimously decided to use the digital device "Little Bird".

The parents' portal, which is already being used in the neighboring town of Geretsried, is intended to give an up-to-the-minute overview of the available and vacant daycare places.

The contract runs for five years, the annual service fee is 3625 euros net.

When asked by Helmut Forster (Wolfratshauser Liste), city hall employee Martin Melf assured that the platform could be managed independently by the employees of the respective Wolfratshausen day care centers.

"Telephoning the individual institutions is no longer up-to-date: everything is becoming more transparent and easier," emphasized Melf.

In addition, if places become vacant at short notice, a timely admission of children is guaranteed.

However, he questioned the data protection of the portal.

City hall employee Melf then promised to have this situation checked again.

The conversion of a former materials store, a classroom and a workroom is expected to cost the city 39,700 euros.

In the coming school year, 22 Weidacher elementary school students will be cared for in these premises.

"This would also eliminate personnel-intensive bus trips to the other two daycare centers," said Meixner.

The members of the culture committee headed by the third mayor, Annette Heinloth (Green Party), unanimously endorsed this proposal.

Open instead of tied all-day concept

In another item on the agenda, the head of the elementary and middle school on Hammerschmiedweg, Frank Schwesig, called for a change of model: instead of the bound one, an open all-day concept for grades five to seven should be set up in the future.

"I don't see any other way," he pressed for a decision.

The reason is that in the fifth grade only two classes are formed instead of three classes due to the lower number of registrations.

In order not to lose the afternoon care, a change to an open all-day concept and an extension to the sixth and seventh grades are necessary.

In the future, pupils will be looked after across classes and grades for two to four days a week until 3:30 p.m.

The offer is to be made available at the middle school on Hammerschmiedweg.

The children and youth development association will be responsible for the new facility.

Frank Schwesig, who also spoke in the culture committee in his function as network coordinator of the Königsdorf, Dietramszell, Geretsried, Wolfratshausen and Waldram middle schools, also referred to the forthcoming merger of the Wolfratshausen and Waldram middle schools on Hammerschmiedweg.

Nine out of ten city councilors approved the proposed resolution to form the fifth classes in a two-stream system at the Hammerschmiedweg school location.

Only Greens parliamentary group spokesman Peter Lobenstein voted against it.
