Rock'n'Roll in all facets offered the concert night that Apollon's Smile put on in Freising.

The proceeds benefit social causes.

Freising

– What a concert night: At the SpringTimeConcert by the cult duo Apollon's Smile, they really let it rip with over 20 guest musicians.

People sang, danced and celebrated life until well after midnight.

It was an unbelievable four hours of the finest rock'n'roll in all its facets.

The net proceeds of the concert were donated to two good causes.

"When I read the report in the FT about the bottlenecks at the Freisinger Tafel, it was clear to us: We have to help here," explained Marc Hanow and Julian Hobmeier from Apollon's Smile when asked by the local newspaper.

The current problem of the Tafel: The food deliveries from the supermarkets are becoming increasingly scarce, but the number of needy people is increasing, also due to Ukrainian refugees.

Hanow finds touching words with regard to Ukraine

And because it's getting tight everywhere and help is actually needed everywhere, the folk duo decided to split the donation amount - at 1100 euros each.

Apollon's Smile presented the second check to Günther and Lidi Seifert.

Background: Günther Seifert's sister-in-law, Oksana, runs the veterans' hospital in Khmelnyskyj, central Ukraine, which urgently needs financial support for medicines and other supplies.

The proceeds from the concert went to a good cause: in addition to the table, Günther and Lidi Seifert (middle/2nd from right) also received 1100 euros.

Hanow and Hobmeier quickly decided that the SpringTimeConcert would be a benefit concert.

Hanow is particularly grateful to the many Freisingers who made the donations possible by buying tickets and at the same time ensured that the Lindenkeller was sold out.

And the music lovers were not disappointed.

The event can confidently be described as an all-star concert of the finest quality.

Apollon's Smile brought over 20 guest musicians and thus well-known names onto the stage.

While some guitars were still being tuned backstage and the first beer was opened to calm things down, Hanow touchingly described on stage the feeling of powerlessness in the current situation and thus the question of whether a concert should be played at all in times like this.

"When all pandemics and weapons are silent and fade away, one thing will remain: the music," said Hanow.

With this concert, freedom and life should be celebrated, precisely because both are threatened by the war.

Boice offered a cappella gems.

That's why the two opening numbers were chosen to be beautiful and heart-touching: "Dream in" and "Wonderful World".

Another highlight of the evening: the surprising spoken word appearance of the Green member of the state parliament, Johannes Becher.

"I'm not here today as a politician, but as a person.

And that's what we need anyway - more political people and more human politicians," says Becher, who had his first poetry slam experience ten years ago in the Hirschenwirt Moosburg.

His poem about the war in Ukraine received thunderous applause.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

The Butsch band, the reggae heroes of Chilanty, the funk glitter of Sweet Spot and the a cappella gems of Boice also received no less applause.

Against the Grain proved that punk is not dead with a formidable performance.

The jazz duo JO!

to.

It was precisely this perfectly nuanced jukebox mix that turned the evening into a musical highlight.

Despite all the euphoria: A moment of goosebumps creates silence

Biggest goosebump moment: Apollon's Smile's interpretation of Hannes Wader's anti-war song "Es ist zu Zeit" with the lyrics: "Yes, they have lied to you just as much as they still do today - and you gave them everything your strength, your youth, your life”.

After that it was very quiet in the Lindenkeller for a moment.
