family party at the station square.

The numerous visitors were able to get an idea of the newly created lounge areas on the station square and also used the new seating and the diverse range of restaurants in Starnberg.

With the "See and the City" project, the city of Starnberg wants to test together with the citizens by October 2022 how public space and in particular the station square can change positively for pedestrians and cyclists.

"In the course of the project, the areas of the station square were temporarily redistributed, more areas are created for pedestrians and cyclists and thus more open spaces, more quality of stay and new meeting places for you as citizens," emphasized Mayor Patrick Janik in his opening speech.

The opening ceremony took place on the Germany-wide "Day of Urban Development Funding", because the "See and the City" project is being funded as part of the "Inner City" redevelopment area with funds from urban development funding.

First Mayor Janik gave special thanks to Volker Rasp from the government of Upper Bavaria, who supported the city in word and deed in the implementation of the project and was also on site on Saturday.

At an information stand run by the city administration, visitors were also able to find out more about inner city development and fill out a survey on the subject of "traffic in the inner city".

Interested parties can take part in the survey until October 2022, and it will soon be available on the city’s website.

All information about the project can also be found at www.see-and-the-city.de.
