Marktoberdorf – Production has resumed at the AGCO/Fendt site in Marktoberdorf since Monday after the hacker attack.
The parent company announced this in a press release late Monday evening.
According to this, production at most of the AGCO/Fendt locations should have started again on Monday.
After the hacker attack, a so-called ransomware cyber attack, which was discovered on Thursday, May 5 (we reported), the "company's efforts to restore systems and business processes have been successfully continued".
The remaining AGCO/Fendt locations are expected to resume operations later this week.
All factories and parts plants could be up and running by the end of this week, the parent company said in the press release.
The company also states that "data exfiltration" occurred as a result of the ransomware cyberattack.
Although AGCO does not have a retail operation and therefore does not have consumer data privacy protections, the company is still evaluating the scope and consequences of the data loss.
Although damage from the hacking attack could require "more in-depth and lengthy remediation and recovery than currently anticipated," the company currently expects to be able to mitigate the production loss from the ransomware cyberattack with an increase in production for the remainder of 2022.
"Our expectations regarding the recovery from the ransomware cyberattack are forward-looking statements," the company said.
The results could "deviate significantly from our current expectations for a number of reasons" - most notably "that the damage to our systems is greater than anticipated".
There is also the possibility of further hacker attacks on the company.
Therefore, the recovery may take longer than expected.
