New Delhi-SANA
The Indian government announced today that it will only export wheat shipments contracted to importers that have been awaiting customs clearance procedures across the border.
And Indian media quoted the government as saying in a statement: "The contracted wheat will be exported before the date of May 13, as it was awaiting customs clearance approvals across the border."
This comes a few days after India announced a ban on the export of wheat of all kinds until prices stabilize in local markets.
Global wheat prices witnessed a jump with the scarcity of global supplies against the backdrop of the ban imposed by India on its export.
According to the measurement of the United Nations Food Agency, the rise in the price of wheat this year contributed to an increase in food prices in the world to unprecedented levels.
