A former mayor of Bucharest accused of corruption was arrested under a European warrant on Tuesday (May 17th) in Glyfada, a seaside suburb of Athens, said a press release from the Greek police.
According to several media, it is Sorin Oprescu, mayor of the Romanian capital between 2008 and 2015.

The person arrested is "
a 71-year-old Romanian, former mayor of Bucharest, and he is accused of corruption, money laundering and forming a criminal group
", according to the police.
He must be brought before the prosecution, the police said.
