The body of a Czech was found in Ukraine, the Czech Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday (May 17) and media identified him as a volunteer who was shot dead.

The 49-year-old truck driver had traveled to the war-torn country soon after the start of the Russian invasion to help transport displaced people to safety, his wife told the Czech news site

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is aware of the case of a deceased Czech citizen
," spokeswoman Lenka Do told AFP, adding that he would not provide further details.
According to the CTK agency, his body was found in a mass grave on the side of a road near the town of Makariv, near kyiv.
A total of three bodies were discovered there.
Two people had been shot in the head and one in the stomach, CTK added.
The voxpot.cz site indicated that its journalists had found the badly damaged car of the volunteer, adding that his name was Tomas.
His wife Simona found that her husband's phone had gone silent since March 2, according to the same source.
