The BRICS countries renewed their call for solving the problems of the Middle East in accordance with the rules of international law and on the basis of the principles of non-interference in the internal affairs of countries and respect for their sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The countries of the group stressed during a consultative meeting held via video technology that the problems facing the countries of the Middle East and North Africa must be resolved in strict accordance with the rules of international law and the provisions of the Charter of the United Nations on the basis of the principles of non-interference in the internal affairs of countries and respect for their sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the consultative meeting of representatives of the group was held today via video technology, chaired by Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Li Ding, with the participation of the Special Representative of the Russian President for the Middle East and African Countries, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, Ambassador-at-Large to South Africa Anil Sokal and Deputy Foreign Minister of India Asaf Syed and Director of the Africa Department of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rodrigo Gapcha.
The BRICS countries affirmed the continuation of fruitful cooperation and the deepening of political dialogue among the "five" members in order to find and promote consensual political and diplomatic solutions to crisis situations in the Middle East region of strategic importance in the world.
The BRICS group, whose name represents the initials of its member states in English, which are Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, is characterized as a political, cultural and economic bloc that Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova described last April as becoming the nucleus of a multipolar world because the international relations system is currently going through a phase deep transformation.
