This is not the first case of its kind, when in August 2020 a parliamentary assistant complained against a Member of Parliament, also from the Conservative Party, claiming that he had raped her and sexually harassed her while they were in a relationship.
The politician, in his 50s, is suspected of four incidents that took place between July and January in 2019. The name of the MP has not been released.
