Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced the appointment of his country's ambassador to Moscow, Carlos Faria, as foreign minister.
"Ambassador Carlos Faria has been appointed Minister of People's Power for Foreign Relations and Adviser of the Republic," Maduro said in a statement broadcast on Venezuelan television, praising Faria's "good experience and knowledge of all the parameters of the geopolitical environment of the struggle for a multipolar world."
Faria was appointed to succeed Felix Placencia, who has held the position since August of last year.
