Change of attitude within a week: What caused Silman to be removed from the "Right" faction meeting? | Israel today

Sources in the party told Israel Today that the former coalition chairman's removal from the yeshiva was intentional.

The rift on the right:

MK Idit Silman arrived at the faction's meeting last week and was greeted with smiles. Yesterday (Monday), Prime Minister Naftali Bennett had already asked her if it was not embarrassing for her to attend the meeting.

"Last week we made a mistake, we treated Idit Silman in silk gloves, she entered a faction meeting, there was a good atmosphere, we celebrated Ayelet Shaked's birthday. We did not make her feel bad and that was a malfunction," the sources said.

"You can not go out against us, be interviewed against us, and we will continue to act as if nothing has happened and we will welcome you with open arms. It will not happen again."

As you may recall, last Friday, a few hours before Shabbat began, the Minister of Religious Affairs, Matan Kahana, announced to the Prime Minister that he had resigned in order to strengthen the coalition, for fear of a possible defection of MK Yom Tov Kalfon.

Yesterday at the faction meeting, Silman refused to answer Bennett who asked her if she would support the re-appointment.

And said "we'll talk about it."

In response, Bennett asked her if she was not embarrassed to come and what her factional discipline was.

Silman replied, "I am a right-wing friend."

And Bennett decided to get her out of the meeting.

The reason for Silman's participation is probably strategic.

If the right-wing party decides to declare her a "retiree" in the future, the Knesset member will be able to claim that she took part in the faction's meetings.

Were we wrong?

Fixed!
