The incidence in Germany continues to fall.

The RKI reports a value below 440. But the value loses its significance.

Berlin – There is currently little to rely on the corona numbers in Germany.

The values only partially reflect the infection process in this country.

A comparison of daily values is hardly possible at the moment.

Health authorities are overloaded, and experts believe that the number of unreported cases is large.

Not everyone does a PCR test, but only these are included in the statistics.

There may be late registrations, especially after the weekend.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) therefore refers to its weekly report.

"For the assessment of the course, the consideration of the weekly comparison is more effective", can be read on the RKI website.

Corona in Germany: RKI reports 215 deaths (as of May 17, 2022)

  • Nevertheless, the RKI reported 86,252 new corona infections

    and

    215 deaths

    this Tuesday morning

    (previous day: zero).

The nationwide incidence is currently 437.6.

  • 931 corona patients

    are currently being

treated in the intensive care units in Germany.

Of these, 381 must be artificially ventilated.

This emerges from the data from the DIVI intensive care register on Tuesday (as of 6:05 a.m.).

Corona summer without worries?

The number of corona cases is declining overall.

In a weekly comparison, the incidence in all age groups has fallen significantly, the RKI announced in its most recent Covid 19 weekly report.

"The peak of the current wave has been passed, many hospitalization indicators and the number of deaths continue to decrease," said the RKI.

Nevertheless, the infection pressure remains “high”.

The Omicron variant (99 percent) currently dominates in Germany, writes the RKI.

“The proportion of the Omikron subline BA.2 was over 97 percent in week 17/2022.

Recombinations of different variants have so far only been detected in isolated cases.”

Despite the omicron dominance, according to the RKI, the further course of the pandemic depends to a large extent on whether larger parts of the population continue to behave prudently and considerately and implement the recommendations for infection prevention, even if government-ordered measures are reduced.

"Currently, seasonal effects are also helping to reduce transmission."

The summer makes us forget Corona, even if there is still a mask requirement on buses, trains and planes.

What happens in autumn 2022?

Researchers at the TU Berlin have presented possible scenarios.

Researchers from Israel have identified another danger: Delta could reappear.

According to study results, the Delta variant is extremely resistant.

High-tech wastewater analyzes suggest this.
